1075 steel exhibits high yield strength and is softer as well as more bendable than 1095, but has less spring. Due to the heat treatment of 1075 spring steel, it cannot be welded. Typically used in antennas, clock hands, lock pics, s-tines, spring clamps, and vehicle coil springs.
1075 is one of the most common and easy to use steels in knifemaking. It forges cleanly, heat treats simply and can be filed, sanded and finished all with regular tools.
